China - First Impressions

The fifteen member delegation from North Carolina left for China on October 23 from RDU. The flight was 2 hours to Detroit and then 15 to Shanghai. We arrived at 7 p.m. on October 24. The 30 million people who reside in Shanghai live in high rise apts., spaced very close together, and fill the streets all day and evening. Residents walk, ride bikes, and ride mopeds in mass. So many autos line the roads, bumper to bumper, that there don't appear to be any "rules of the road." It's every man, woman, and child for himself or herself.

Internet access is limited--though hotels might have access, the Internet is slow and time sensitive. Tonight is my first chance to blog and it, too, will be short.

I am just before boarding a flight from Fuzhou to Hainan at 6:45 p.m.

Maybe tomorrow I can have more time to write.

Until then, so long.
